The purpose of these instructions is to help students in their thesis and supervise the thesis in supervising the thesis in the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District (PPSHP). This is briefly summarized in the main instructions for the completion of the thesis. Take note of the Children’s and Adolescents’ own guidelines.

The thesis process has been prepared for the Hospital District, one of the purposes of which is to guide students and teachers in their thesis.

  1. Choice of subject, collaborative meeting and writing notes
  2. Plan
  3. Support License
  4. Implementation of the thesis
  5. Finalization of the thesis

1) Choosing a subject, collaborating and writing notes

All theses are assembled in a joint thesis bank. The topics are divided into PPSHP strategy in terms of customer, process, human resources, management and economics.

When a student finds an interesting topic in the Thesis Bank, he / she will contact the subject coordinator by email. The coordinator’s more detailed contact information can be found in the Coordinators’ Contact List. The coordinator will receive more detailed information on the subject and will be provided with a reservation of the topic and guidance on applications for research licenses. The coordinator is in contact with the unit’s liaison officer and a first co-operation meeting is agreed through him.

Contact is by email, where the student presents the following:

  • name and contact information, email address and phone number
  • what interest and why
  • preliminary timetable for the thesis

All topics in the thesis can be selected by all students of the degree programs, some of the thesis topics are directed to a student of a particular degree program (shown in the degree program). The perspective of the thesis is changed to meet the objectives of your own degree program. Some of the theses are marked (in the form of the thesis / material) in the form of the thesis, such as interview, questionnaire, DVD, etc. These theses are indicative and can be discussed with the coordinator. In addition, some of the topics are marked with a Master’s thesis / Yamk, which means that a Master’s thesis or a Master’s thesis in a higher university is hoped for. All thesis topics can also be awarded a master’s thesis or a thesis from a higher university of applied sciences.

Theses must be such that they do not require the opinion of the statutory ethics committee, ie they do not interfere with the physical or mental integrity of the subject.

The institution is always responsible for supervising the thesis. PPSHP liaison officers only provide content guidance related to the thesis process. Sufficient time should be reserved for the completion of the thesis and also the scheduling factors of the cooperation team should be taken into account.

Students must have teacher approval on the topic before the first collaborative meeting. The meeting between the student and the contact persons specifies the subject and the perspectives, as well as the methods of cooperation; Data collection, timetables, information, etc. For the purpose of the thesis (eg product), fill in the letter of intent according to the instructions of the institution. The letter of intent is signed by the student and the contact person or coordinator of the unit.

The student writes a memo for each co-operation according to the PPSHP guidelines. The student sends the memo by email to the coordinator, contact person and teacher. A copy of a possible letter of intent is attached to the note.

2) Plan

The plan of the thesis is made according to the instructions of the educational institution under the guidance of the teacher guiding the thesis. The thesis plan must be approved by the teacher instructing the institution, after which the student can apply for permission to complete the thesis. The student must submit the thesis plan to the coordinator before applying for a permit and make any requested changes to the plan.

The student applies for a bachelor’s thesis with a research license form. The following annexes must be attached to the research license form signed by the students:

– Approved thesis plan

– Collaboration agreement signed by the teacher and the student

Attachments to be added to the thesis:

– questionnaires

– patient bulletins

– Staff releases

– PPSHP copyright form for operational thesis (eg product, help, DVD)

The license form must be completed with sections 1 and 2, the names and signatures of all the authors of the thesis. The master form number, ie the classification number of the study, can be found in the authorization form, which can be found in the attachment at the end of the license form. In social and health care studies, the main model number is 900, 901 or 902.

The student completes a research license, a co-operation agreement and a possible agreement on assigning copyright at school under the guidance of a teacher. The student submits the original and signed license forms to the coordinator. The thesis plan can be sent by email.

The educational coordinator who coordinates the completion of your thesis guides the licensing process and informs who acts as the advocate and issuer of the license. The co-ordinator will submit the application form and its attachments to the licensor.

The supervising teacher and the author of the thesis must ensure that the research stage is such that the thesis does not interfere with the psychological and physical integrity of the person and the statutory Ethics Committee’s opinion is not needed.

All the studies and theses are numbered (diaarized), which enables the follow-up of the research activities. The clinician’s secretary is responsible for the diaphragm, to whom the licensor issues the approved research license. The Clerk of the Clinic sends the student a research license and a copy to the licensor and the coordinator of the teaching. After that, the student has the right to start the thesis.

4) Implementation of the thesis

In the thesis plan, the thesis worker should consider the ethical issues related to his / her thesis, such as issues related to the data protection, volunteering, safety and misrepresentation of the subjects. The plan should also consider how to ensure the implementation of ethical principles during and after the completion of the thesis. Participation in the study is always voluntary and the subject may refuse or suspend participation in the study at any stage of the study.

Students are responsible for their research ethics. The duty of silence is permanent. The student is responsible for ensuring that the information of the reporting agents does not come to the attention of third parties at any stage of the investigation.

The hospital patient questionnaires are sent to the subjects by the treatment unit in the hospital envelopes and letters, using the PPSHP logo logo. In-house queries will be accompanied by a cover letter from the results area. The cover letter shows that the study is part of the hospital’s operation and that the research results are used in practice. The student must ask the subject for a written consent if the material is collected by interviewing, observing, etc. Answering the questionnaires can be considered as consent to participation in the thesis.
